Beijing Home Furniture and Design fair 2012 - report
This fair was organized only for the second tome and
it was the first time that Furniture-HQ participated.
As we feared limited success we only rented 2 shell scheme booths of 2 x 9
SQM (Hall E1, L26) was split up in one room for Indian designs and one for
D&M depot together with
Chene de l'Est and
Casa Valentina.
The organizers of the fair are very experiences and professional. Maybe a
bit too much considering the small size of the event. That was actually the
most negative thing: that it only filled up half a hall... It's a pity that
not more participators were found in Beijing, but why also not from other
provinces?
Because after all it turned out to be a good fair for us, with many
designers and small entrepreneurs visiting our booth, getting to know our
wholesale concept.
The fair was built up around 2 major sponsors (see column on the right) and
many events around design. It seems they really want to create a forum and
think-tank for design in Northern-China. There were conferences by
professors from the US and Holland.
Besides the designer's forum, I feel the fair was interesting for retail
buyers to visit, and maybe the fair should develop that aspect more.
Due to the limited number of exhibitors though, for anyone who came this
fair was too small.
Remarkably enough we made new clients in South America, the owner of a
retail business flew all the way in from Hongkong for this Beijing Furniture
Exhibition ... luckily we were able to show them around the
factories around Beijing and made
their trip worthwhile.
